Excuse me while I jump on my environmental high horse. Actually, no excuse me. Listen here, fellow Australians.

In this past year, we used more than 4 billion plastic bags. FOUR BILLION. Know what that works out at? That's 201 plastic bags for each of us (including those tiny babies that know nothing more of plastic than their favourite Lamaze toy).

And that is not the worrying part. What is worse is that in 2006 we used 3.3 billion. THERE WAS A FUCKING INCREASE IN PLASTIC BAG USE BETWEEN 2006 AND 2007.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN PEOPLE'S HEADS?

Are you just worrying that you'll have nothing to carry your things in once the government implements their plans to get rid of plastic bags by the year's end?

This whole environment thing is not going away. Using plastic bags may just be one small thing in the greater environmental scheme but it is possibly the easiest thing you can do to keep our planet "green".

Buy some calico bags and take them with you when you shop. Everywhere. Everytime. Not just to the supermarket. Take them to the department store. All those specialty stores. Even when you shop at Gucci.
