Or something. And definitely not about John Hughes.
"He's our generation's J.D. Salinger," says [Kevin] Smith, whose film "Dogma" shows its heroes, Jay and Silent Bob, on a pilgrimage to Shermer, Ill., a mythical town that only exists in Hughes' films. "He touched a generation and then the dude checked out. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be doing what I do. Basically my stuff is just John Hughes films with four-letter words."
I tend to agree. Except all my stuff is just John Hughes films set in Funkytown and laying in the bottom drawer of my desk.
So, go read the LA Times article, dust off VHS copies of Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club - even Uncle Buck - and go find grandpa's au-to-mo-biile.
Sincerely yours,
the soulclap.
